Tower and shopping mall in four years

At the Capital Summit 2015, Belgrade will present its key infrastructure and development project - Belgrade Waterfront, that will provide several million square meters of new residential and business space, as well as investments amounting to over three billion euros.

Preparations for work commencement that entail the solving of property rights over land will be hastened by the Public Interest Determination Act, as well as special expropriation procedures and the issuing of a construction permit for the realization of the project 'Belgrade Waterfront'.

In the coming decades, new technologies will transform many cities into smart cities. The first pilot projects are achieving excellent results in the utilization of existing resources and energy efficiency, and the trend which multi-million cities will have to follow is already evident.

Today, New York has a metro line that can support 26 trains per hour as opposed to the previous maximum number of 15, owing to digitalization. In our region, Vienna has managed to increase public transport usage from 28 to 39 percent thanks to its new eco-friendly buses.

Presentations of new infrastructure and communal solutions at the Summit will show the projects and methodology that the cities of central and eastern Europe have prepared in order to follow global trends.

Sharing capital ideas

The Capital Summit 2015 is divided into three subjects – city infrastrcture and urban development, innovative service delivery models, as well as the quality of life and future development of central and south eastern European capital cities. The first panel will discuss the development and financing of large infrastructure projects, such as the Belgrade Waterfront, Vienna Central Station, airport in Zagreb, and revitalization of brownfield locations in Budapest. The second panel will be dedicated to increasing efficiency in electricity and water distribution and waste treatment. New approaches to those areas will be presented by Warsaw, Sofia and Bucharest. Regarding the improvement of quality of life on the final panel, leaders from Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Tirana and Podgorica will be discussing how their projects, such as Green Capital, Sarajevo Film Festival and the revitalization of facades, have impored the quality of life and satisfaction of their citizens.

The main patron of the Capital Summit 2015 is one of the fastest growing companies in the region in the field of electro-energetics Elnos Group. Elnos Group deals in the field electric energy distribution, the development of distributive networks and the sale of accompanying equipment. It has developed its business in Serbia, BiH and Montenegro, Macedonia, Sweeden and Austria. Elnos Group will present its solutions for the control and management of energy in smart cities at the Capital Summit. In addition, Siemens, Emerson Climate Technologies and Star Refrigeration will also be sponsoring the event. Siemens is a global multinational company which deals with energy, transport, healthcare, home appliance, and many other sectors. Siemens will present to the mayors at the Capital Summit its innovative ways for the financing of infrastructure modernization. Uk companies Emerson Climate Technologies and Star Refrigeration will teach us how to harvest heat from the rivers in a cleaner and more efficient way.

Welcome reception at the Old Palace

The Capital Summit 2015 will be opened on Wednesday April 22nd with a formal reception at the City Parliament of Belgrade. In the grand hall of the Old Court/Palace the hosts and patrons of the Summit will hold a gala reception for more than 600 guests. Guests from central Europe and the region will be greeted with a welcome speech by the Mayor of Belgrade Siniša Mali. Invited to the gala reception are members of the National Parliament, Government of Serbia, diplomatic corps, business community and potential investors, academic community, prominent artists and athletes. A special charm to the event will be added by the exhibition of traditional handicrafts made in modern design, organized by the national association of handicrafts Ethno Network.
