Success story: The World's Largest Natural District Heat Pump
Large Heat Pump Installation for the city of Drammen District Heating (Norway).
With a heating capacity of 13 MW, the system supplies 90°C hot water pumped through a network of underground pipes for heating over 6,000 homes and businesses in the city.Using Ammonia as refrigerant, it is the world’s largest district-wide natural heat pump system.
The ammonia heat pump that has been installed on site consists of 3 x 2 stage Vilter single screw compressor systems in series each with a heating duty of approximately 4.5 MW. The installation design and these heat pumps have been manufactured by Star Refrigeration Ldt, located in United Kingdom.
